Sevenling (She believes in...)

She believes in happily ever after, in
monsters under the bed, & objects imbued
with magic ("Mirror, Mirror on the wall...)

She fears falling in love, the monster
buried deep within, & looking at her own
reflection ("Who is the fairest of them all?")

She only lets her heart roam free when the full moon graces the evening sky.

A note on form:  This, as the title so eloquently states, is a sevenling.  From the moment I first came across this form to the several times I've been exposed to it since, I still don't feel like I really have a handle on this form.  The guidelines seem to vague to me and no matter how many times I read about the form or see examples I still feel at a loss.  Of course, that doesn't stop me form making it my own nunetheless.

ha. you know i dont know that i have ever tried the form...

it is interesting how the beliefs and the fears are tied together between the two stanzas...

also line how you tied them with the mirror mirror familiar rhyme...

the last line seems to go away from that...

I can see what you mean; though in my head it fits...unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) no one can see inside my head. I'll have to ponder this awhile.

Never heard of this form...but there's a gazillion of them how could I have? I think I'll look this one up.

Her beliefs seem fairy tale like but her feelings are rooted in fear...such a tough dynamic.

RMP, if you don't mind my saying so, this poem has what I would call a "terse elegance." Too often, I have a problem with stopping my poetry before I overexplain myself, which is why I like using form so much, even if I have problems sticking to form too closely. I like what you have done here, and I think I "understand" the last line, but my understanding of it may be much different from yours, so I will keep quiet about my interpretation! It is a short poem, but full of grace.
